Get to Know Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Husband, Ryan Anderson

So, who’s this Ryan Anderson guy that Gypsy Rose Blanchard married? Well, he’s a special education teacher for middle school kids, hailing from Louisiana. That’s what their marriage certificate says, anyway. It’s a document that People magazine got their hands on. He’s a local from Lake Charles, a place that’s got a bit of a reputation. The city’s website describes it as having a “Cajun personality with a Texas flair.”

But how did Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson cross paths? It’s a bit of a story. Ryan had seen this HBO documentary back in 2017. It was called Mommy Dead and Dearest and it was all about Dee Dee’s murder. Fast forward to 2020, one of his coworkers was talking about penning a letter to this guy from Tiger King. You know, Joseph “Joe Exotic” Maldonado-Passage. That got Ryan thinking.

Ryan’s like, “You know what, if you’re writing to him, I’ll write to Gypsy Rose Blanchard.” He’d seen her documentary, Mommy Dead and Dearest, a few years back. “And then The Act had came out and I’ve never watched The Act, but I remember my friends talking about The Act and I was like, I’ll watch the documentary again. So it was kind of fresh on my mind.” That’s what he spilled to People.

By May 2020, they were emailing each other on the regular. But then, COVID-19 hit. Gypsy admitted it was a rollercoaster of emotions for her. She told People, “Unfortunately, it put the prison in a position to where it restricted our freedom even more.” But through all the good times and the hard times, Ryan was there for her.
