Birgitte was born in Hillerød, Denmark on January 16, 1982. Actress most well known for playing Katrine Fønsmark in the television series Borgen. She made her debut in American film in Pitch Perfect 2 as antagonist Kommissar. In 2016, she appeared in the HBO series Vinyl.

Inspired by a trip to see Chicago in the West End as a child, she decided to attend the Danish National School of Theatre. She would soon after earn her first television credit and star as Roxie Hart in the musical that inspired her to pursue acting.
