Emily was born in New Delhi, India on January 25, 1974. Famous for her work with the Canadian rock bands Metric and Broken Social Scene, this soprano vocalist also created a solo act called Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton. Her albums with Metric include Live It Out, Fantasies, and Synthetica.
She and guitarist James Shaw became romantically involved in 1997 and quickly formed a music group, Mainstream, that they later renamed Metric. Metric released its first album, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, in 2003.
