Jo was born in Oslo, Norway on March 29, 1960. Known for such popular Harry Hole series novels as The Devil’s Star, The Redbreast, and The Snowman, this acclaimed Norwegian fiction writer won a 1998 Glass Key Award for the first novel in the series, The Bat (Flaggermusmannen).
After graduating from the Norwegian School of Economics, he found employment as both a stockbroker and a journalist.
Did you know: His well known works include a children’s book titled Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder and a short story collection called Karusellmusikk. A musician as well as a writer, he fronted an award-winning Norwegian rock music group called Di Derre.
