Jolanda was born in Texas, United States on November 6, 1965. Former City Councilwoman of Houston, Texas who became nationally recognized for her time as a contestant on Survivor: Palau. She was working as a lawyer and community activist when she was cast on the WE tv reality series Sisters in Law.
She became the first to win the Texas State 5A Team Championship as an individual in track and field. She was an All-American in both track and field and basketball in high school. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a degree in political science.
Did you know: She qualified for the 1996 US Olympic Trials, but tragedy struck two weeks before she was going to compete when her younger brother was murdered.
