Megumi was born in Japan on June 6, 1965. Known for her work in such Japanese anime series as YuYu Hakusho (as Kurama), Neon Genesis Evangelion (as Shinji Ikari), and Sailor Moon (as Sailor Uranus), she also had a career as a singer, producing such albums as Yoake no Jikan and Rain.
Early in her career, she released several 1990s vocal albums, including Marine Legend, Half Moon, and Winter Bird; she often performed and recorded under the stage name of em:óu.
