Semyon was born in Kuybyshev, Soviet Union on April 27, 1988. Goaltender who debuted in the NHL with the Washington Capitals in 2008 and helped the Russian national team win gold at the 2012 World Championships; traded to the Colorado Avalanche in July, 2011 and had his breakout year for the team during the 2013-14 season.

He took silver in the 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships.

Did you know: He was drafted 23rd overall by the Washington Capitals in 2006; five years later, the Capitals traded him away in exchange for the Avalanche’s first round pick in 2012.
