Stephen was born in Illinois, United States on September 14, 1971. Well known for his role as David Paulk on BET Network’s hit series Being Mary Jane, he has appeared in numerous notable films such as The Run Down, Friday Night Lights, Safe House, and Battleship.

He was a football and baseball player growing up, earning a scholarship for baseball from the University of California Riverside, and leading the school to a College World Series. He then played professionally for with the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles.
